legacy of love
A Memorial Wall for Those Who Fought Cancer
The Legacy of Love is a Memorial Wall for those who fought cancer is a heartfelt tribute and digital sanctuary created to honour the cherished memories of individuals who bravely battled cancer. At Living With Cancer, our mission extends beyond providing support to patients and families; it encompasses preserving the legacies of those who have touched our lives. This virtual memorial serves as a platform where people can share their stories, memories, and reflections of loved ones lost to cancer. By submitting their stories to our blog, individuals can immortalise the enduring impact of their loved ones’ lives and offer solace to others who may be navigating similar journeys. As a non-profit cancer support group dedicated to closing the gap and combating the cancer crisis in South Africa, we recognise the importance of preserving these legacies of love as a beacon of hope and inspiration for future generations. Together, through storytelling and remembrance, we strive to cultivate a community of support, resilience, and compassion in the face of adversity.

Last night this amazing human, Lynette, a mother, sister, grandmother, aunty, friend, mentor and leader . Took her last breath. The last 3 months have been exceptionally hard for her, but she gave it her all and to the very last she was strong and determined. We love her and are so proud of her, but she is released from the confines of a suffering body. Free to run and breathe and laugh and love and be happy. We will miss her enormously. But her memory will always be near. We’re so grateful for the love she brought to our lives.
Gillian Lawrence
Gill left us on the 20 Feb 2020, a lady with an incredible fighting spirit and will to live. We love and miss her. Gill inspired so many on the Living with Cancer Support group. Think of you often. 💔Belinda

My darling Markie, Your fight with lung and brain cancer was one that left me in awe. You never complained. You were always smiling. You never lost hope. I will remember the journey we went on together forever. I miss your beautiful smile, I miss our long talks about life and love, I miss the craziness of the rollercoaster that we held each other through. Your light shone so bright my darling. You will be forever missed, with a void in my life that will never ever be filled. To know you was to love you, and love you I did and do. - Nicki, your Ninja
Heidi Groenewald
A big void tore open in our lives today..... After a four year journey, and intense battles the last two years - a noble warrior laid down her armour. Heidi's voice went silent for us on earth, but we know she is now singing with the angel choir. We thank Abba Father that He blessed us with His love that flowed through her. May we continue to honour her, by letting this love live through us...... Love and miss you always, Your Willi

“Personally, Stu and I rode shotgun for each other for decades, literally, and what an extraordinary joyride it’s been. He was the Excel spreadsheet behind my PowerPoint presos: the show director standing proudly in the wings at curtain call, delighted for me to take the applause. What a partner. What a mensch.
“So we’ll keep going onward and upwards, carpe-ing every diem with his memory lighting the way, but knowing that whenever we celebrate a victory, there will always be a spare set of chopsticks at the sushi bar.” – Brandon de Kock

Since the first time I met uncle Henry, he won my heart. He was such a loving person, always a kind word, and a smile on his face.
Uncle Henry grew the most amazing fruit and vegetables in his back garden and always proudly shared his produce with me.
I know your suffering is over and that you are in a better place, but know that you are still thought of often, still loved and dearly missed.

Vivienne Dorrington
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our CEO, Vivienne Dorrington, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Like her father, Ray Beaumont, who founded Technews Publishing in 1985, Vivienne was passionate about business-to-business technical publishing in South Africa and under her leadership the company continued to flourish and grow after she took over the reins from Ray.

Starting out as a young BComm graduate, Vivienne immediately found her feet in sales, proving to be a knowledgeable and formidable force here. She had an innate curiosity and business insight which she easily translated into workable marketing solutions for her customers and which later stood her in good stead as she led the company. Coupled with tenacity and intelligence, this insight and curiosity usually meant seldom ‘switching off’ and her passion for work was rivalled only by her love and pride in her children Laura and Michael.
One of her particular work passions was for the magazine Hi-Tech Security Solutions and even after taking over as CEO which obviously meant a change of direction, her passion for sales remained with her as she continued to lead her magazine and mentor the team to follow in her footsteps.
Determined, decisive, yet always compassionate, engaged and gracious, Vivienne was an inspirational leader whose presence, insight and enthusiasm will be sorely missed and it was a privilege to have worked with her and call her our friend. We also know she had tremendous impact on all who knew her and we will all go forward with irreplaceable memories of our tenacious champion.
We salute you Viv, our CEO, our mentor, our friend.

“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by hales,, it is not my nature.” Jane Austen
Louis Fouche Snr
He was always there for all of us. Late in his illness, he still tried to fish and shoot targets with the children, even though he didn’t feel well. My father in law inspired me when he became sick. Despite his illness, he still got out of bed every morning and showed up at the office. Up until he no longer could. He gave us advice until the very end, we wanted to exercise every day and tried to make a difference in people’s lives. He was a very intelligent man. We will never forget how he tried to remain strong for all of us. - Martie Fouche
